ABOUT US

Capital Pop-Up Cinema has been bringing the magic of cinema to unexpected places around the Ottawa region for over a decade.  Starting as a backyard movie night with close friends, Capital Pop-Up Cinema was born in the parking lot of the original SuzyQ doughnut shop in the Hintonburg neighbourhood.

Capital Pop-Up Cinema is proud to say that we have partnered with over 20 local businesses to present over 100 free movies to more than 50,000 members of the Ottawa community.

Capital Pop-Up Cinema's founder and owner, Isobel Walker, is a proud member of the neurodiverse community.

Land Acknowledgement

We would like to acknowledge that the lands on which we live, work, study, and gather belong to the Algonquin Nation. Ottawa is built on unceded Anishinabe Algonquin territory. The peoples of the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation have inhabited this territory for millennia, and their enduring culture and traditions have significantly shaped and continue to enrich this land. We are profoundly grateful for their cultural heritage and presence, which have nurtured and sustained this region, enabling us to come together as a community and create lasting memories. Capital Pop-Up Cinema honours the peoples and the land of the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation, recognizing the importance of their cultural contributions.
